본 프로젝트는 역사적인 가치를 품고 있는 장소임에도 불구하고 주차장 및 공터로 방치되어있는 "구 마산형무소" 부지를 지상은 공원화하고 지하에 역사 박물관 및 메모리얼 공간을 조성한 프로젝트이다. 

"땅위에서 벌어졌던 상처는 그 땅에 새겨져서 스며들게 된다. "

역사적으로 많은 사건이 일어난 이 부지는 시간이 흐름에 따라 터에서 벌어졌던 상처들이 땅속으로 적층되어졌다. 따라서 이 터의 지하로 들어간다는 의미는 그런 역사적인 기억들과 마주한다는 의미이기에 관람객들은 점점 지하로 진입하는 동선을 거쳐서 마지막으로 메모리얼 공간까지 다다르게 된다.

이 과정에서 빛을 이용한 요소들로 지상과 지하를 끊임없이 이어주며 관람객들은 더욱 다층적인 경험을 하며 전시를 관람하게 된다.

따라서 주변의 맥락과 반대로 건물을 드러내지 않는 지상의 공원과 지하 역사/메모리얼과 합쳐진 주변 문화 요소들을 받아들이는 프로젝트를 제안하며, 공공적인 가치를 발휘하는 장소가 되기를 기대한다.

This project is a project to park the "Former Masan Prison" site, which is abandoned as a parking lot and vacant lot despite its historical value, and to create a historical museum and memorial space underground.

"The wounds on the ground are carved into the ground and seeped into it. "

This site, where many historical events have occurred, has been stacked into the ground with scars from the site over time. Therefore, the meaning of entering the basement of the site means facing such historical memories, so visitors gradually go through the underground route and finally reach the memorial space.

In the process, light-based elements are constantly connected to the ground and underground, allowing visitors to experience more multilayered experiences and view the exhibition.

Therefore, we propose a project to accept the surrounding cultural elements combined with underground history/memory and parks on the ground that do not reveal buildings contrary to the context of the surrounding area, and hope to become a place of public value.
