<Prologue>

현재 전국 대학생들은 건강, 취업, 학업 등 다양한 문제를 겪고 있으며 특히 주거난 문제가 심각하게 발생하고 있다. 서울시는 대학기숙사 수용률 약 18%로 전국 대학 기숙사 수용률 중 최하위권에 위치하며, 기숙사에 입주하지 못 한 학생들은 월세와 각종 생활비를 합해 매 달 약 100만원 이상의 지출이 발생한다. 또한 이러한 주거난 속 세계적 전염병 <COVID-19>가 발병하여 대부분 대학이 비대면으로 수업을 진행하게 되고, 대면과 실습의 과정이 중요한 전공인 건축학과 학생들의 학업 성취도는 현저히 떨어지게 되었다.

따라서, 도시 속에서 건축학과 대학생들이 겪고있는 두 가지 사회적문제를 해결할 수 있는 새로운 건축학과 기숙사를 제안한다.

<Site Analysis>

현대 도시는 시대의 흐름에 맞춰 발빠르게 변화하고 있으며 서울시는 그 중심에 위치한다. 1970년 부터 2020년까지 사이트 주변 수 많은 건물들과 도로들이 변화 하였으며, 도시를 갈라놓던 경의선철도는 녹지로 재탄생해 도시에 활력을 불어넣는 공간이 되었다.

하지만 현재 사이트는 변화로부터 도태되어 도시적 맥락에서 단절되어 있다. 주변은 담으로 둘러싸여 있으며, 공간을 이루는 건물들은 1980년 이후 변화없이 노후화되었다. 그로인해 사이트는 물리적,시각적으로 연결되지 못하고 도시 속에서 고립된 섬과 같은 공간으로 형성되었다. 

<Solution>

코로나 이전, 학생들은 각 학교의 설계실에서 작업을 진행할 수 있었다. 하지만, 코로나 이후 비대면 수업방식으로 인해 수업은 불안정해지고 주거공간 내에서 작업을 하는 경우가 많아지며, 크리틱과 같은 직접적인 상호작용이 중요한 건축학과의 특성상 비대면의 영향을 크게 받는다. 

획일화 된 기존의 기숙사가 아닌 주거공간과 설계실이 합쳐진 새로운 기숙사의 제안을 통해해 다양한 학교의 건축학과 학생들이 교류할 수 있는 공간을 형성하며, 건축학과 대학생들이 겪고 있는 두 가지 사회적 문제를 해결한다.

<Design Concept>

Expand Of Connection, 연결의 확장

기숙사는 하나의 플랫폼이 되어 건축학과 학생들을 연결한다. 나아가 학생들과 시민들이 교류할 수 있는 공간으로써 작용하며 도시적 맥락에 자연스럽게 흡수된다. 학생 - 시민 - 도시로 연결의 대상과 범위가 확장된다.

<Prologue>

Currently, college students across the country are experiencing various problems such as health, employment, and study, and housing problems are particularly serious. Seoul is ranked at the bottom of the nation's university dormitory occupancy rate with an occupancy rate of about 18%, and students who cannot move into dormitory spend more than 1 million won each month, including monthly rent and various living expenses. In addition, due to the outbreak of the global epidemic <COVID-19> amid the housing crisis, most universities conducted non-face-to-face classes, and the academic achievement of architecture students, a major where face-to-face and practical processes are important, has significantly decreased.

Therefore, we propose a new architecture department dormitory that can solve the two social problems that architecture college students are experiencing in the city.

<Site Analysis>

The modern city is rapidly changing in line with the flow of the times, and Seoul is at the center of it. From 1970 to 2020, numerous buildings and roads around the site were changed, and the Gyeongui Line Railway, which divided the city, was reborn as a green area and became a space to revitalize the city.

However, the current site is cut off from the urban context as it has been abandoned from change. The surrounding area is surrounded by a wall, and the buildings that make up the space have deteriorated without change since 1980. As a result, the site was formed as an island-like space isolated in the city without being physically and visually connected.

<Solution>

Before COVID-19, students could work in the design room of each school. However, due to the non-face-to-face teaching method after COVID-19, classes become unstable and work is often done in residential spaces.

Through the proposal of a new dormitory that combines a living space and a design room, rather than a standardized dormitory, it forms a space where architecture students from various schools can exchange do.

Expand Of Connection

The dormitory becomes a platform and connects students of the Department of Architecture. Furthermore, it acts as a space for students and citizens to interact and is naturally absorbed into the urban context.
